are the picture, gums are the matting and the lips are the frame."
This is how we artistically try to describe the way the elements of
a smile are proportionate to one another. These teeth are short and
square due to an overgrowth of gum tissue. When she smiles, we see
too much "matting" and not enough "picture". The
patient first had Britesmile teeth whitening to optimize her color.
We then performed a minor gum-lift surgery using an instrument that
works in similar fashion to a laser. After healing, the four middle
teeth were conservatively prepared for porcelain veneers.
